What is the difference between melodic techno, techno and melodic house?
Techno began in Detroit in the mid-1980s and broadly runs at 120–150 BPM, often stripped back and relentless. Melodic techno, shaped in Europe from the late 2000s, keeps that pulse at around 120–128 BPM but adds melody, layered synths and long builds. Melodic house rides a house groove with a warmer, brighter mood.
Should melodic techno be the warm-up, peak or closing slot?

What equipment does a melodic techno DJ need?
Kim's signed-off rider asks for two Pioneer CDJ-3000s on wired PRO DJ LINK, a Pioneer DJM-A9 and two full-range booth monitors with their own level at the mixer. She plays from USB prepared in rekordbox, with no laptop. A CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 fallback needs written approval.
