DJ prices: how much does it cost to hire a DJ?

How much does it cost to hire a DJ? Booking marketplaces put a UK wedding DJ at roughly £500–£2,000+, a Dubai party DJ at around AED 1,500–3,700 and an Indian wedding DJ anywhere from ₹10,000 upwards. The real figure depends on date, set length, travel and equipment. This guide explains each factor and what a proper quote should cover.

01 — WHAT DRIVES THE FEE

Why DJ prices vary so much

Date, season and lead time

Saturdays, New Year's Eve and peak wedding months are booked first and priced highest. A Friday or Sunday, or a date outside the local high season, usually costs less. Enquiring early helps too: short-notice bookings leave fewer options to route travel and equipment.

Set length and event type

A 60-minute club slot, a five-hour wedding reception and an all-night private party are different jobs. Longer sets, earlier arrival, sound checks and extra sets on the same day all add time, and the fee follows the hours the DJ is committed, not only the hours played.

City, travel and equipment

Local mobile DJs usually bring their own speakers and lights, so their price bundles equipment. A touring DJ plays the venue's system to a technical rider, so the fee is for the performance while flights, hotel, transfers and any hired decks are separate lines on the quote.

02 — READING A QUOTE

What a professional DJ quote should include

The performance, in writing

Date, venue, set times, set length and music brief, with the fee stated clearly. Ask what happens if timings run over and whether any extended set has to be agreed in advance. For wedding after-parties, confirm exactly where the DJ's slot begins.

Equipment and technical rider

Who supplies the decks, mixer, booth monitors and sound system. DJ Kim's signed-off rider asks for 2 × Pioneer CDJ-3000 linked by PRO DJ LINK, a DJM-A9 and two booth monitors, with USB playback and no laptop. If the venue has no system, the host arranges hire to the rider before the date.

Travel and hospitality

For touring artists, these are real costs, not extras. DJ Kim travels with her manager, so bookings cover return flights for both, a minimum 4-star hotel and private licensed ground transfers, with visas and permits handled by the promoter. A clear quote lists each one.

04 — DJ PRICES, ANSWERED

Booking Questions

ANSWERED PLAINLY

How much does it cost to hire a DJ?

It depends on the market and the job. UK marketplace Bark gives around £350 per set, Cueup puts a Dubai party DJ at AED 1,500–3,700, and Indian wedding DJs on WedMeGood Goa range from ₹10,000 to ₹2,00,000. Date, hours, travel and equipment move the figure most.

How much does a wedding DJ cost in the UK?

Bridebook puts a professional UK wedding DJ at £500–£2,000+, and Bark quotes around £1,000–£1,300 for a five-hour reception. Saturdays in peak season sit at the top of the range; weekday, local and shorter bookings sit lower.

Why do touring DJs cost more than local mobile DJs?

A touring artist's quote covers more than the set: flights and a hotel for the artist and often a manager, ground transfers, a technical rider and the fact that the date is exclusive, so no other show that night. A local DJ drives in with their own kit.

How much does DJ Kim charge?

DJ Kim publishes no prices. Every booking is quoted on its date, city, set length and travel, including flights, a minimum 4-star hotel and transfers for her and her manager. Send the details through the enquiry form and you will have an answer within two working days.

Is equipment included in a DJ's price?

With most local mobile DJs, yes: speakers and lights are part of the package. Club and touring DJs normally play the venue's system to a rider. DJ Kim's rider asks for two Pioneer CDJ-3000s, a DJM-A9 and two booth monitors; the full rider is in the press kit.

How far in advance should I book a DJ?

As early as the date is fixed, especially for Saturdays, New Year's Eve and peak wedding months, which fill first. For an international booking, early notice also leaves time for visas, permits and sensible flight routing, which keeps the travel lines on the quote lower.
